The Coalfields of North East Derbyshire
The coal industry played a massive part in the development of modern Britain. Without coal to fuel British industry, the country as we know it today simply wouldn’t exist.
Today the coal mines of northern England are all but gone, but they are not forgotten. In this new film from Compress Media, the story of the collieries of North East Derbyshire is told through the eyes of those who were there.
Photography, stories, interviews with ex-miners and new footage come together to bring the mines back to life once more.
The Coalfields of North East Derbyshire is set for release on DVD in 4th Quarter of 2009.
Dole Not Coal – The Stikers' Story
In accompaniment to the history of the Coalfields of North East Derbyshire, Compress Media looks to tell the story of Miners from North East Derbyshire and surrounding areas caught in the strikes of 1984-85.
Dole Not Coal tells the real story of the miners during this time, how they were involved and the effect the strikes not only had on them, but also there families and communities through interviews, photographs and never before seen home video footage taken during the strikes.
Dole not Coal is set for release on DVD in 4th Quarter of 2009.

‘The Reinstatement of Chesterfield Canal - Renishaw’
Following a number of failed attempts, the Renishaw section of the Chesterfield Canal has finally been reinstated, and Compress Media were there from day one of the project. This is the first step towards re-joining the local waterways to Tapton Lock, and with it comes the ebb and flow of relaxed canal life back to the Village.
